47401 stands on the headshunt at Swanwick on 4th April 2009. The loco had just been successfully started up for the first time in 2009 ready for the new operating season. A few extra finishing touches have been made to the recent repaint, including white air pipes on the bogies and correctly positioned shed stickers.

The 47401 Project is the owner of the pioneer Class 47 locomotive formerly numbered D1500 and also its stablemate D1516 (47417) which are preserved at the Midland Railway, Butterley.
